Terror: The damned, the shamed
02/06/08 || Kampfar
I signed up for this review assuming I was about to dissect a thrash combo, an idea conjured by my brain alone. In reality (this) Terror is roughly put Hatebreed on speed, with shit-yer-pants vocals to go. And yes, the message is exactly the same, too. I have no problem relating to the lyrics, but Driller Killer already made better ones, conveying them with utter aggression, convincing more than just this sorry soul about their authenticity. Terror fails in doing so, with good margin.
Here is talent, at least some, but every effort is wasted on Mr. Blockage, aka Mr. Vocals. His piss poor performance, forced as fuck and of course mixed very loud, makes sure every song ends up sounding exactly the same. Hell, even the brief acoustic parts sounds like the rest when Mr. Vogel joins in. This very fact made me hate “The damned, the shamed” even before it had finished once. Impressive. And, I don’t like the production overly much either, cramped and anemic it is.
Terror should consider taking up what their moniker suggests, for they are not a band we need. I don’t think you’ll like this album even if you are a fan of hard core (with a dash of punk).
Failure.
3 out of 10.
